The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with using the total value of frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine's military campaign, PM Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this joint measure would increase strain on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade Moscow to engage in negotiations.

They added that the initiative would be carried out in tight collaboration with the US.

UK sanctions have immobilized more than £25bn of Russia's resources since the Russian government began its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, up to this point, resources allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's assets had only been drawn from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and Germany were aligned in their desire to push forward toward utilizing the full value of the immobilized Russia's state holdings to end the war.

He stated that further restrictions over the next period would heighten the tension on Russia.

This statement comes after European Union officials convened in the Danish capital recently to debate using immobilized Russia's holdings for a €140 billion credit to the Ukrainian nation.

Recently, President Donald Trump called on international partners to confiscate or employ immobilized Russian holdings, according to media sources.

The worth of seized Russia's holdings in the Europe is calculated to be approximately €211bn.

Russia executed widespread aerial attacks across the Ukrainian territory on Friday, leading to power cuts in significant regions of Kyiv, the city, and several other zones.

Two people were killed and at least 20 people were wounded in the assault, authorities in Ukraine stated.

In a message on X following the incident, Zelensky commented that the premeditated assault aimed at non-military and power facilities.

"The necessity is not empty words but firm measures - from the US, the European Union, and the Group of Seven - in providing defense mechanisms and applying sanctions," he emphasized.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes the Russian war effort," Zelensky declared, in a separate post.

In the same period, Zelensky told reporters he would press Sir Keir to join the PURL programme, under which alliance members purchase weapons from the America to give to Ukraine.

While praising the United Kingdom's consistent assistance for the Ukrainian government, he noted it should demonstrate clearly that it would engage in the initiative, as well as apply additional measures on Russia.
