Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his future after a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the club's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win obviously but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal discussions I sense the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented recurring failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a spell such as this with performances like these.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, prove again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
