After enduring heavy downpours that resulted in floodwaters across parts of the city, LA is now grappling with unusually high conditions for the end of February.

During the day Friday, the thermometer soared to 91°F (33°C) in central LA, as reported by meteorologists. This breaks the old record for this date, which was 31 degrees Celsius (88 Fahrenheit) and was recorded in the previous year.
"Unusually high temperatures" were labeled on NWS graphics for the region.

Authorities stated that Friday's weather posed an "higher threat for heat illness" for people sensitive to heat. Their recommendations suggested:

The outlook suggests a cooldown is coming. Readings were predicted to drop to around sixty-one degrees Fahrenheit in central Los Angeles by Friday night.
Other locales that experienced the 90-degree mark included Long Beach, Burbank, and Woodland Hills. Additionally, Oxnard, Westwood, Camarillo, and Santa Maria were projected to experience the upper eighties.
For the weekend, downtown Los Angeles can expect temperatures in the eighties, with cooler weather on tap for the week ahead.
