One of the co-founders of the famous ice cream brand Ben & Jerry's has claimed how parent company the multinational conglomerate blocked the introduction of a new pro-Palestinian frozen dessert product.

Ben Cohen, who established the company with Jerry Greenfield, revealed that he will personally create the controversial flavor within a personal series showcasing issues Ben & Jerry's was barred from speaking out about.

Ongoing Dispute Between Creators versus Corporate Owner

The recent announcement intensifies the ongoing conflict between the world-famous ice cream maker with its corporate parent, the British packaged goods corporation which acquired the ice cream brand since 2000.

Both founders maintain how Unilever and their ice cream division Magnum improperly prevented Ben & Jerry's from "fulfilling its ethical commitments".

Watermelon Flavor as an Emblem of Support

The entrepreneur stated via social media that he is creating a new watermelon-flavored frozen dessert, requesting consumer ideas regarding the product's name plus additional components.

“I'm accomplishing what they were prevented from doing,” the founder commented in a cooking set. “I'm making a watermelon-based ice cream that calls for permanent peace in Palestine and calls for repairing the damage that occurred in the region.”

This particular fruit has become a symbol for solidarity with Palestinians due to its coloration, which match those of the Palestinian flag – the distinctive four-color pattern.

Previous Social Engagement plus Recent Changes

Several years ago, Ben & Jerry's refused to sell its products in areas under Israeli control, leading to Unilever transferring their Israel business over to a local licensee, thus allowing continued sales within disputed territories.

The new product line is being developed under Ben's Best, the activist ice cream brand that originally established several years back for endorsing ex- political contender Senator Sanders with the product "Bernie's Return".

Leadership Changes and Upcoming Intentions

The founder revealed how he plans to create additional ice cream flavors focusing on concerns that Ben & Jerry's was silenced from addressing publicly due to corporate restrictions.

This development comes after co-founder Mr. Greenfield stepped down his position at Ben & Jerry's in September, following decades with the organization, mentioning worries that the company's autonomy had been undermined after corporate moves to curb their advocacy work.

At that time, Ben Cohen stated that “My partner has a really big heart and the ongoing dispute with Unilever was deeply distressing him."

"My heart leads me to keep working inside the company to advocate for its independence ensuring that it can actualise its ethical purpose, the values that it was founded on and has maintained for over 40 years," he told journalists.
